Last week we scooped The Drum’s Recommended Agency Register (RAR) Award for combined services in the events category. To say we were delighted is an understatement. We were the show’s underdogs for sure, nominated alongside some big-name agencies that offer fully integrated services, of which events are often only a small part. But, for us, live events are everything, that’s what we do, so… let’s face it… to get recognition, feels great!
The nominations are determined by the number of client recommendations an agency receives, all of which are made anonymously. It’s a nerve-racking business waiting to see how your customers rate your services and where you appear in the final ranking. But we did it, and it’s all thanks to our amazing clients who empower us to take risks and deliver consistently creative experiences.
The awards industry is a funny business, we wrote a blog on it when we first dipped our toes into the scene a couple of years ago. They’re expensive and the more cynical amongst us might even suggest they’re simply a money-making machine for the organisers. However, I’m an advocate because, whatever your view, we all want recognition and attending the ceremony as a nominee is a great way to bring the team together to recognise and reward their collective contribution to making the business a success.
Winning is even better. First, you can enjoy bragging rights for a year, and second, you’ll find your team grows stronger, feeling more connected in their collective sense of pride. Success your breeds success and there is the added bonus from your award-winning status of being able to attract new creative talent to your company.
You’ve got to be in it to win it but, after you take the plunge, the bug bites and before you know it you’re completely hooked. We’re even thinking of putting up a trophy shelf and our RAR Award will take pride of place!
